The Energy Systems Integration Group (ESIG) recently published an article outlining some of the demands, challenges, and next steps in the transition from a centralized, fossil fuel-based power system to one that is more decarbonized, digital, and distributed.

“A Transforming Power System” delves into how distributed energy resources (DERs) are anticipated to grow rapidly – distributed solar is expected to double from 2022 levels by 2030. Integration of DER will present challenges, but these challenges can be managed through industry-wide collaboration to develop standardized solution templates for utilities and regulators to implement against.
