The Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers’ Institute (SAAMI) now offers two additional web-based resources that help clarify the interchangeability of certain ammunition in a specified firearm chamber and identify the names of equivalent and historical cartridges.
“Generally Accepted Firearms and Ammunition Interchangeability” and “Generally Accepted Cartridge and Chamber Names” are important for firearm safety, providing industry and recreational shooters the ability to identify what ammunition can be safely shot in firearms. They include safety and technical information and details on what precautions must be taken.
