People on the Move

11/23/2022

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The National Ready Mixed Concrete Association (NRMCA) has announced the restructuring of its senior staff: Gregg Lewis, executive vice president, communication and promotion strategy has been promoted to the newly created position of chief communications officer. Lewis will continue to report to NRMCA president Michael Philipps. Lewis, who joined NRMCA in 2015, will now oversee all Association communications and promotion strategy, including oversight of the Build with Strength and Pave Ahead promotion teams.

NRMCA has also announced that Tim Cooper is its executive vice president, human resources. Cooper will have overall responsibility for human resource activities for NRMCA and the Portland Cement Association. For NRMCA and PCA, he will be directly involved in recruiting, talent development, compensation and benefits, employee relations, succession planning, organizational development, executive coaching, and change management.

“NRMCA must speak with one voice to many constituencies, including members, prospective members, allied associations and organizations, and federal lawmakers, and Gregg is well qualified to lead that messaging across these many platforms,” said Michael Philipps. “We are also very fortunate to have Tim on board. His extensive experience in human resources will help ensure NRMCA and PCA are able to recruit and retain top talent, which is obviously critical to having strong and effective trade associations.”

The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced the appointment of Laura King as regional director of Canada, NFPA. In her new role, King will work with the entire fire and life safety community to advance safety in Canada by cultivating strong alliances, working with existing and new stakeholders, advocating for public education, and representing NFPA in local, provincial, and national circles. She succeeds Shayne Mintz, who retired in 2021 after nearly 10 years representing NFPA in Canada.

Since 2017, King has served as NFPA’s representative in public education and has worked with fire departments, associations, and First Nations groups from Vancouver Island to Newfoundland, and the northern territories, to develop community risk reduction programs, build fire-prevention and life-safety education strategies, and create and disseminate consistent and accurate fire and life safety messaging.

“Laura has the skill set and experience to collaborate with a broad range of professionals across Canada,” said Lorraine Carli, vice president of outreach and advocacy for NFPA. “Her experiences representing NFPA in public education, and her strong connection to the fire safety community in Canada, make her well suited for this important role.”
