China is currently the United States' largest goods trading partner. The ANSI China Program has helped to build stronger relationships between the U.S. and China in the areas of standards and conformity assessment since 2006. ANSI’s rich experience helps companies and organizations understand the latest trends and navigate the Chinese market.
ANSI's China Program demonstrates ANSI’s ongoing commitment to fostering Sino-American cooperation to facilitate trade and support the rules-based international standards system. Opportunities for open dialogue between the U.S. and China on standards and conformity assessment are critical to facilitating greater understanding and smoother trade relationship. It is our mission to create a balanced environment to allow stakeholders to discuss challenges and strategies, exchange information across industry sectors, and provide perspectives on issues that affect U.S. ability to do business in China.
ANSI holds MOUs or Letters of Intent (LOI) with key standardization organizations in China, including:
Ensuring that new standards and regulatory changes enable innovation and facilitate trade. To that end, ANSI China Program focuses on tracking and responding to emerging policies and regulatory initiatives impacting standards, conformity, and market access to the Chinese market.
Funded by the U.S. Trade Development Agency (USTDA) and coordinated by ANSI, the U.S.-China Standards and Conformity Assessment Cooperation Program (SCACP) provides a forum through which U.S. and Chinese industry and government representatives to cooperate on issues relating to standards, conformity assessment. With three phases, the program started in 2013 and successfully completed in March 2021.
