Calling Members: Information Request to Support Potential U.S.-APEC Project

1/24/2022

Submit Feedback by February 4, 2022

ANSI members who are interested in pursuing a potential APEC project, working in conjunction with ANSI, are requested to share a short description of the proposed activity by February 4, 2022.

U.S. leadership, especially in new technologies, is critical. The U.S. has offered to host the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in 2023. If the United States serves as host, it would be beneficial to organize U.S.-led projects. In recent years, the U.S. has organized a number of standards-related projects on blockchain, drones, additive manufacturing, amongst other topics.

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is considering whether concept notes for APEC projects might be possible through synergies with the Standards Alliance program (SA2). Current SA2 project areas include support for improving national quality infrastructure through good regulatory practice (GRP); RIA; medical devices including personal protective equipment; water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH); and energy. APEC activities can include, but are not limited to workshops, policy dialogues, and guide developments.

Members who are interested in further pursuing a potential APEC project, working in conjunction with ANSI, are requested to share a short description (3-4 sentences) of the proposed activity by COB February 4, 2022,with Jessica Roop, senior manager, international development, ANSI: [email protected].

Members interested in proposing an APEC Concept Note directly can contact Kent Shigetomi at the Office of the United States Trade Representative.
