The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), an ANSI affiliate, is committed to providing accreditation services that build confidence and value for stakeholders worldwide. Below are some notable examples of ANAB's expansive work over the past year.
ANAB’s global approach to accreditation transcends geographical boundaries—fostering international trust in quality and safety, and facilitating cross-border trade. Reflecting ANAB’s broad reach, more than 3,400 ANAB-accredited conformity assessment bodies operate across 90 countries.
ANAB has earned signatory status in international and regional multilateral recognition arrangements (MLAs), reducing the need for multiple assessments under an internationally recognized “one accreditation accepted everywhere” system.
Our staff proudly support a cooperative global and regional conformity assessment framework through active participation and leadership in key forums.
ANAB also actively participates with the TIC Council to promote best practices in safety, quality, health, ethics, and sustainability.
To help organizations establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve an Artificial Intelligence Management System, ANAB launched a new accreditation program for ISO/IEC 42001.
Supporting carbon and sustainability disclosure frameworks and validation and verification integrity, ANAB expanded its international recognition with the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) to level 3 main scope of ISO/IEC 17029.
To bolster property and evidence control—as well as greater trust and confidence in the criminal justice system—the Houston Forensic Science Center sought and earned accreditation under ANAB’s new program for Property and Evidence Control Units.
ANAB signed a new MOU with the Horseracing Integrity and Welfare Unit for its Anti-Doping and Medication Control laboratory program. Starting January 2025, labs performing drug testing for race horses will need to comply with applicable requirements. ANAB is one of two bodies recognized by HEAL to accredit ISO 17025 labs.
The World Sustainability Organization S.R.L. recognized ANAB as an accreditation body for its Friends of the Sea Certification Scheme.
Advancing the safety of dietary supplement products, ANAB piloted a new accreditation program with the Global Retailer and Manufacturer Alliance (GRMA), assessing participating laboratories to GRMA specifications.
Over the last year, ANAB educated more than 1,000 attendees through 60 in-person and online training courses. Our free monthly webinars reached more than 3,000 registrants on wide-ranging topics.
In September 2024, the highly anticipated Credentialing Conference and Client Day took credentialing professionals on a deep dive into the latest accreditation updates and industry trends.
ANAB also launched our first annual Conformity Assessment Case Study—a free, online self-assessment that provides a benchmark of conformity assessment knowledge and skill, as well helpful feedback on areas to improve. Our second annual Conformity Assessment Case Study is coming soon!
Rena’ Bass, an assessor of management systems, validation and verification, and product certification programs, was awarded ANAB’s seventh annual Terry Burgess Assessor of the Year Award. Bass has been instrumental to the growth and effectiveness of ANAB programs throughout her years of service, and in educating and mentoring new assessors.
Trust, quality, transparency, and confidence—these principles form the heart of ANAB’s global accreditation programs.
Our commitment to continual improvement is in our DNA. In line with our promise to exceed the highest standards, ANAB is undergoing a comprehensive peer evaluation this year.
We are also closely monitoring trends and developments, and anticipate new activities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things in the months to come.
But the momentum doesn't stop there—ANAB has already set its sights on 2026 with the launch of a brand-new, landmark event for the conformity assessment community. Stay tuned and learn the latest about ANAB’s impactful activities at www.anab.org.
