To help shape the development of a national Artificial Intelligence (AI) Action Plan (“Plan”), the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) is seeking public feedback to identify key priorities on relevant topics—including but not limited to technical and safety standards—that strengthen U.S. leadership in AI and promote private sector innovation. Responses are requested by March 15.
Interested ANSI members are encouraged to submit responses to the RFI. ANSI will prepare an overarching response addressing the importance of reliance on private sector-developed AI standards.
The Plan is directed by a presidential Executive Order signed on January 23, 2025, on Removing Barriers to American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence. The Networking and Information Technology Research and Development (NITRD) National Coordination Office (NCO), on behalf of the OSTP, issued this Request for Information (RFI) notice seeking input from the public, including respondents from academia; industry groups; private sector organizations; state, local, and tribal governments; and other interested parties, on priority actions that should be included in the Plan.
Relevant AI Topics to Inform the Plan
As outlined in a February Federal Register notice, the OSTP seeks input on the highest priority policy actions that should be in the Plan. Responses can address any relevant AI policy topic, including but not limited to:
Respondents are encouraged to suggest concrete AI policy actions needed to address the topics included. Access more information via the Federal Register notice.
