9/06/2024

Find out more about factors influencing standards readiness, recent activities relating to standards incorporated by reference, and more during the hybrid joint meeting of ANSI’s Organizational Member Forum (OMF) and Government Member Forum (GMF).

The meeting, scheduled for October 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, will be held both online and in-person at AAMI headquarters in Arlington, VA.

The agenda will cover:

  • Factors Influencing Standards Readiness: Over the summer, ANSI conducted public sessions on factors influencing standards readiness, including what information is needed to make an informed decision to engage in standards development activities. Representatives from ANSI and NIST will provide an overview of strategies to determine standards readiness. Members will be invited to share their organizations’ experience.

  • Aligning Standards Activities with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Internationally, attention is being directed at aligning standards development with the UN SDGs, and standards developers have been reviewing how their activities align with these goals. This session will highlight approaches to alignment, momentum, and impact. Members will present selected use cases and the audience will be invited to share their experiences.

  • Incorporation By Reference & Copyright – Issue Update: ANSI’s Patricia Griffin, senior vice president and general counsel, and Mary Saunders, senior vice president, government relations, will provide an overview of the latest activities relating to standards incorporated by reference (IBR’d) into federal and state regulations.

While the session will be geared to ANSI-Accredited Standards Developers (ASDs), other ANSI members are welcome. Virtual participation is an option and space is limited for in-person attendance. Interested stakeholders can register online via ANSI. Questions on this session can be directed to [email protected].
