People on the Move

12/06/2023

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The National Waste & Recycling Association (NWRA) has announced that Rachel Hering has joined the association as vice president of chapter relations.

Hering joins NWRA from Keep Texas Beautiful (KTB), following a merger with Cooperative Teamwork & Recycling Assistance (CTRA), an organization she led for 12 years. During her tenure, she was responsible for advancing recycling access in Texas. She also established over 25 community recycling programs and secured more than $1.1 million in implementation and educational funding for member communities.

She has experience with materials management in rural and underserved areas across the country and Canada, for which she has provided technical expertise on rural recycling development and programs.

“I’m excited to join NWRA, an organization that advocates for the waste and recycling industry and is committed to making the industry safer and sustainable,” Hering said.

The Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) recently announced the appointment of Thomas F. Meyers as the company’s president and CEO, effective January 2024. He succeeds Lezlee Westine, who will leave her position as president and CEO at the end of the year.

Myers currently serves as PCPC’s executive vice president for legal and regulatory affairs and general counsel. For this role, he oversees legal and domestic regulatory issues facing the industry and is intricately involved in the operations of the organization.

Before joining PCPC in 2010, Myers worked as a regulatory counsel specializing in environment and energy for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He also has experience in private practice for international law firms.

“Tom’s profound understanding of our industry and exceptional understanding of the legal, regulatory, and political landscape uniquely position him to lead PCPC. His vision aligns perfectly with our industry’s innovative spirit, dedication to quality, and commitment to safety,” said PCPC board chair Barbara Menarguez.

“This is an exciting time for our industry thanks to the strong foundation laid by Lezlee,” said Myers.  “I am honored to be selected as PCPC’s next leader and I am confident that, together with the Board and staff, we will continue to drive growth and innovation for the industry and the consumers who rely on our products every day.”
