People on the Move

4/12/2023

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) has named Jeff Henriksen as its chief strategy officer, effective March 31.

In his role, Henriksen works closely with the CEO and the PHTA board of directors to develop, communicate, and execute strategic initiatives. He contributes to the implementation of several initiatives, including increasing PHTA's position as an industry thought leader and providing more research and industry forecasting to members; developing business management courses for members; expanding PHTA state and regional chapters; and creating PHTA's first annual report.

Previously, Henriksen spent five years with the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning National Association (SMACNA), where he helped the association achieve several critical goals in its strategic plan. At SMACNA, he developed a consumer-facing program to heighten awareness of indoor air quality issues among schools, building operators, and homeowners.

"Jeff Henriksen is a perfect fit for PHTA," said Sabeena Hickman, president and CEO of PHTA. "His track record of success at other associations speaks for itself. He is exactly who PHTA needs right now as we develop a strategic plan to elevate the pool, spa, and hot tub industry and ensure our members achieve their highest potential."

"I am excited about the opportunity to join such a talented organization here at the Pool & Hot Tub Alliance," said Henriksen. "I believe my experience managing and launching industry-wide programs will serve PHTA members well as we look to increase the effectiveness of existing programs while generating industry awareness of our members' professionalism, knowledge, and profitability."

The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) has announced the promotion of Nabil Shahin to managing director, AHRI Middle East, North Africa (MENA).

Shahin joined AHRI in 2020 as international technical director. Under Shahin’s leadership, AHRI has become a trusted source of information and a partner to regional regulatory bodies. Prior to his work with AHRI, Shahin served as director of international development for Johnson Controls, sales business unit director for the Middle East and Africa at Daikin, director of engineering for Goodman Manufacturing, and global director of engineering at Hunter Fan Company.
