People on the Move

11/30/2020

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The International Accreditors of Continuing Education and Training (IACET), a member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced two new appointments in the organization.

Dr. Karen LaMarsh is IACET’s new director of accreditation and training. Prior to joining IACET, Dr. LaMarsh was the executive director of Clayton State University Continuing and Professional Education. She also spent eight years with the College of Continuing and Professional Education at Kennesaw State University, and was an internal auditor for the Board of Regents with the University System of Georgia.

Dr. LaMarsh has held leadership positions on numerous relevant committees, including chair of the University System of Georgia Board of Regents Administrative Committee on Public Service and Continuing Education; vice president for programs, president, past president, and member-at-large for the Georgia Adult Education Association; chair and commissioner with the International Accreditors for Continuing Education and Training; and chair of the ARC NextGen (Youth) Committee.

Dee Wells has been appointed IACET manager of marketing and communications. She brings with her many years of experience in education, including over 10 years as an adult education teacher and secondary educator in both English and special education. Ms. Wells has also served as a career advisor with the Department of Defense Military One Source SECO project, where she assisted military spouses in obtaining employment and educational opportunities.

Additionally, Ms. Wells spent several years at pharmaceutical companies as a continuing education coordinator. In these roles, she maintained and facilitated continuing education credit workshops and credentials for the healthcare community. She is dedicated to giving back to her community, founding several mentoring organizations connecting youth with qualified mentors. Through these programs, students have had valuable exposure to student congressional session visits to the white house, mock law reviews, and youth business symposiums.
