Join April 17 Call to Learn More

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is seeking stakeholders interested in participating in the U.S. Technical Advisory Group (TAG) for the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committee (TC) 345, Materials for specialty technologies. A stakeholder call will be held on April 17 to discuss the current status of this project and to answer questions about U.S. participation.

Critical Minerals for U.S. Innovation and National Security

TC 345 focuses on critical minerals that are essential to U.S. innovation and national security. The committee’s scope reads:

Standardization in the field of specialty metals, minerals and materials from primary and secondary sources used for specialty technologies (e.g. emerging technologies, renewable energy). It includes: terminology, classification, sampling, testing and chemical analysis methods, traceability, packaging and labelling.

A list of specialty metals and minerals is included as follows: antimony, beryllium, cobalt, chromium, graphite, niobium, platinum group metals, tantalum, vanadium, zirconium.

The U.S. standardization community’s expertise and engagement are essential to ensure that U.S. interests and perspectives are represented at the international table.

A stakeholder call will be held on April 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM EDT via Webex to discuss the current status and potential U.S. reengagement in the activity, and to answer any questions from participants.
