U.S. Department of Commerce Webinar: Share Input on Technology Standards, Secure Supply Chain Working Groups

10/29/2021

Efforts Support U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council’s Economic and Technology Priorities

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages interested stakeholders to attend a U.S. Department of Commerce webinar on November 18, 2021, 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. ET, to exchange views and provide input on several U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council Working Groups. One of the objectives of the TTC and its Working Groups is to provide a basis for the United States and European Union (EU) to coordinate approaches on an expansive set of critical economic and technology issues over the coming months.

Launched at the U.S.-EU Summit in June 2021, the U.S.-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) met for the first time in September. In a joint statement released later, the U.S. and EU reaffirmed the TTC’s objectives to: 1) coordinate approaches to key global technology, economic, and trade issues, and 2) to deepen transatlantic trade and economic relations, basing policies on shared democratic values.

The Commerce Department webinar is set to highlight four of the Working Groups that were established under the TTC to carry forward important work to strengthen the U.S.-EU relationship and cooperation, including:

  • Information and Communication Technology and Services (ICTS) Security and Competitiveness
  • Promoting Small- and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SME) Access to and Use of Digital Tools
  • Secure Supply Chains
  • Technology Standards

Following the November 18 webinar, the Commerce Department reports that it intends to continue robust engagement with a diverse range of stakeholders, including but not limited to industry, labor organizations, think tanks, non-profit organizations, environmental constituencies, academics, and other civil society members.
