As the U.S. member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is seeking comments relative to the systematic review of ISO 26000, Guidance on social responsibility. Input on whether the standard should be revised, reconfirmed, or withdrawn is requested by January 29, 2021.
ISO 26000 is intended to provide guidance on the underlying principles of social responsibility to all types of organizations in the private, public, and non-profit sectors, whether large or small, and whether operating in developed or developing countries. The standard was first published in 2010 and has since undergone two systematic reviews, both of which resulted in reconfirming the standard without change. In the most recent systematic review in 2017, ANSI voted to reconfirm ISO 26000 without change, based on the input from the U.S. standardization community.
Submit comments to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director of international policy and strategy ([email protected]), by close of business on January 29, 2021. Based on the input received from U.S. stakeholders, a recommended ANSI position and any comments will be developed and presented to the ANSI ISO Council (AIC) for approval before the ISO voting deadline of March 4, 2021.
