UL Standards and Engagement (ULSE) has released its 2023 Holiday Safety Guide, with safety tips that cover the spectrum of the holiday season, from decorating to cooking, gifting, and traveling.
Although most safety standards are widely adopted by manufacturers, there are no guarantees that every product on the market conforms to standards, even if safety is the priority for many gift givers, ULSE shares. According to the company’s holiday survey, while a majority of gift buyers say they are motivated to open their wallets for well-known retailers (79%) and well-known brands (75%), their strongest purchase motivator is price (85%). Most (64%)—but not as many—prefer to purchase products because they meet safety standards.
The guide also looks at the most coveted electronic and appliance gifts, and provides safety information on lithium-ion batteries used to power popular e-bikes and hoverboards, lawn care devices, and smaller appliances, such as smart watches and phones.
“From the standards that protect your products to the safety tips that will help you avoid injury, we are leveraging more than a century of safety expertise to make the holiday season one to remember—for all the right reasons,” according to ULSE.
