The Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers (AHAM) has published a list of tips to save money while staying cool during the hot summer months.

Tips include:

• Don’t turn air conditioning too low – a room that’s too cold may add excessive moisture to the air.
• Clean the air conditioning unit – use a plastic scrub brush to clean coils and vents, and the brush attachment on a vacuum to get rid of leftover dirt.
• Keep the portable air conditioners’ hoses straight – kinks in the hose reduce efficiency.
