OASIS Open recently posted a video interview with Todd Smith of KYG.trade on the development of standards that will allow for greater automation in identifying countries of origin for manufactured goods and their components.
The conversation delves into issues related to determining the countries of origin of products and materials – often still a manual process that involves emailing large bills of materials and PDF files. Automated solutions simplify this process, and the easy identification of country of origin plays a larger role in helping to fight issues including climate change, conflict materials, and abuses of labor forces.
