Busting Standards Myths, Learning from Success Stories, and More: Register for ANSI’s Joint CMF/OMF Meeting

Agenda for Hybrid Meeting on May 7-8 is Available Online

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has released the agenda for its upcoming joint meeting of the Company Member Forum (CMF) and Organizational Member Forum (OMF) on May 7-8. Register today to join lively discussions about setting standards strategies for your organization and hear about the digital transformation of standards, updates on issues surrounding standards incorporated by reference (IBR), the potential for quantum technology, and more.

The hybrid meeting will be held at The Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) headquarters in Arlington, VA. In-person participants can find information about hotels near AAMI here

Participants will explore topics including:

May 7 (Day 1): 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. ET

  • U.S. Standardization Center of Excellence for Critical & Emerging Technologies (SCoE): ASTM International and NIST will report on the establishment of the U.S. Standardization Center of Excellence (SCoE), established to support U.S. engagement in international standardization for critical and emerging technologies.
  • From Consortia to Consensus Standard will explore the benefits, challenges, and potential pathways for effective collaboration between consortia and SDOs to enhance the development and adoption of robust, widely accepted standards.
  • Standards Success Stories will bring together professionals representing different areas of the standardization system who will share the unique advantages they’ve gained from standards and active participation in their development.

May 8 (Day 2): 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. ET

  • Setting Standards Strategies for Your Organization will explore best practices for developing cohesive, forward-thinking standards strategies that optimize engagement, collaboration, and long-term impact for both SDOs and companies.
  • Quantum Advancements will provide an overview of quantum technology, a review of the current initiatives of ISO/IEC Joint Technical Committee 3, the role of international collaboration in quantum standardization, and strategies for effectively engaging with and shaping the development of quantum technology standards.
  • The Digital Standards Alliance will provide updates on this group, established to accelerate the delivery of digital standards to benefit aerospace manufacturers and their supply chain stakeholders.
  • Digital Transformation of Standards: Hear about how the American Welding Society is transforming its standards process to create machine-readable standards.
  • ANSI Government Updates/Incorporation By Reference (IBR): The session will provide overview of recent activities relating to standards incorporated by reference (IBR’d)

    into federal and state regulations.

  • Busting Standards “Myths”: The CMF and OMF chairs will moderate an interactive session busting the standards “myths” based on CMF and OMF member submissions on myths they have heard or learned about standards.

The ANSI Company Member Forum (CMF) serves as a venue for ANSI members representing the full spectrum of U.S. industry to examine issues related to national and global standards, as well as conformity assessment developments. The ANSI Organizational Member Forum (OMF) serves as a venue for U.S. professional societies, trade associations, standards developing organizations, and representatives of academia to come together to examine issues related to national, regional, and international standards, as well as issues of interest related to conformity assessment. The OMF's membership comprises one representative from each of ANSI's organizational members.
