Movers and Shakers highlights the career advancements and accomplishments of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO) recently announced that Dain Hansen, executive vice president of government relations, has been named one of The Hill’s Top 100 Lobbyists of 2024.

The Hill’s Top 100 Lobbyists list is compiled annually, highlighting professionals who demonstrate leadership, strategic vision, and impact on key legislative and regulatory issue. This is Hansen’s third consecutive time on the list, underscoring IAPMO’s impact on policies that strengthen global competitiveness and build community resiliency through standards, research, testing, and certification.

“Dain’s recognition is a testament to IAPMO’s continued leadership in promoting industry initiatives and removing trade barriers for a safer and more affordable built environment,” said IAPMO CEO Dave Viola. “Dain and his team continue to set the benchmark for policies and standards that benefit both communities and our industry.”

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has announced that three of its senior research scientists have achieved 2024 Presidential Rank Awards, one of the most prestigious awards for career civil servants in the federal government.

The Civil Service Reform Act of 1978 established the Presidential Rank Awards Program, which is administered by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).

The award recipients include:
