Register Today: Explore the Intersection of Standards and Sustainability at ANSI’s World Standards Week Conference

10/18/2024

Environmental sustainability has become an urgent priority for companies and governments due to global challenges from social, economic, and ecological trends. This urgency is driving a range of exemplary actions in carbon footprint reduction–along with great anticipation in use of technology to address the sustainability challenges.

According to the opening keynote speaker of ANSI’s upcoming World Standards Week conference, Standards and Sustainability: Shaping the FutureChandrakant Patel, P.E., senior fellow and chief engineer at HP, Inc.—to set the course and navigate this future, sustainability strategies must be founded on a fundamentals-based, holistic perspective that considers the supply-side and the demand-side.

Join representatives from industry, government, standards developing organizations, civil society, and consumer groups as ANSI’s November 13 conference explores how we can work together to advance greater sustainability worldwide.

Keynoter Şebnem Sener, Ph.D., head of private finance for the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the United Nation Development Programme, will highlight efforts to drive sustainability and the UN SDGs. Following the opening TEDx-style talks, panel sessions will dig deep into significant issues:

This panel will provide knowledge and guidance to help you make more informed decisions and drive meaningful change in your organization.

  • Standards and Regulations Across Borders: In an increasingly interconnected world, understanding the complex web of sustainability standards and regulations across the U.S., EU, and globally is crucial for businesses to thrive. This panel will guide you through the latest developments in ecolabels, green products, and environmental product declarations, as well as the impact of the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act and the EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) on U.S. industry. The panel will also explore the implications of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation (ESPR) and Digital Product Passports, and delve into the significance of ISO’s forthcoming net zero standard, ISO GHG standards, and the GHG Protocol.

  • Closing the Loop: Pioneering Approaches to Circularity: This panel will explore how government, industry, and standards developing organizations are revolutionizing resource use and waste reduction. Discover the latest in circularity standards, get a firsthand look at initiatives in circular product design, and learn the innovative ways sustainability is being integrated into electrification.
