The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will host a hybrid symposium to explore the agency’s developments relating to artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and trust, and provide an overview of its next steps in advancing AI measurements and standards.
The symposium, “Unleashing AI Innovation, Enabling Trust,” will detail efforts of the NIST AI Innovation Lab (NAIIL), which is headquartered within the agency’s Information Technology Laboratory and responsible for a variety of NIST’s AI efforts. NAIIL advances AI measurement methods and guidelines, including their incorporation into international standards.
The event is the latest agency effort to advance AI. In early August, NIST announced new AI safety guidelines and software that aim to help improve the safety, security, and trustworthiness of AI systems.
In 2023, NIST requested participants for a new consortium to support the development of innovative methods for evaluating AI systems to improve their safety and trustworthiness, a core element of the agency’s Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI).
Access more information and register for NIST’s 1.5-day symposium event on September 24-25, 2024, at The George Washington University in Washington, DC, and online, to build on NIST’s efforts.
