The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) encourages relevant stakeholders to respond to an Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) survey intended to gauge stakeholders’ understanding of voluntary sustainability standards (VSS). Feedback will serve to design a dialogue/workshop that promotes the VSS facilitation through trade cooperation among the APEC economies.
Access the survey. Responses are due by July 15 and will remain anonymous.
The survey aims to capture the current state of VSS within the respondents’ economy, exploring the level of understanding, existing implementation, and experiential insights. Additionally, it seeks to examine how these standards play a role within Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
The effort supports APEC’s role in promoting regional economic cooperation, and will provide policy makers with an understanding of how VSS could be implemented and contribute to sustainable trade. Access project details online.
Stakeholder feedback will support an APEC report under the 15th Sub-Committee on Standards and Conformance (SCSC) Conference on Standards and Conformance— “Leveraging Voluntary Sustainability Standards (VSS) to strengthen APEC member economies’ trade partnerships and economic cooperation” —as well as content for an anticipated APEC workshop on VSS to be held in Lima, Peru, in August 2024.
