Join as a Speaker, Moderator, or Panelist: Bilateral U.S.-German Standards Panel on April 4-5

1/27/2023

Respond to ANSI by February 17

Share your expertise on current standardization strategies in the U.S. and Europe: the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is seeking relevant stakeholders, including International Policy Advisory Group (IPAG) members or their designees to serve as moderators, speakers, or panelists in the bilateral U.S.-German Standards Panel on April 4-5, 2023.

ANSI, together with the U.S. National Committee (USNC) to the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the German Institute for Standardization (DIN), and the German Commission for Electrotechnical, Electronic, and Information Technologies of DIN and VDE (DKE) will host the event. To accommodate broad stakeholder input, sessions will support virtual participation and in-person discussions at the National Press Club in Washington, DC.

Day 1 Session: April 4

Attendees will examine current standardization strategies in the U.S. and Europe, assess how digitalization will affect standards development work, and look at the format and use of smart standards deliverables during the hybrid (virtual and in-person) morning session on April 4. The afternoon session will feature parallel sessions with in-person participation only, and cover the topics of artificial intelligence (AI) and climate change and related standardization.

Day 2 Session: April 5

The hybrid morning session will cover reports of the two April 4 afternoon sessions and determine whether stakeholder participants can identify and agree on U.S./German cooperative efforts in these areas. Sessions are supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

Access the draft agenda program for the event, developed by ANSI, DIN, and DKE staff, which includes instructions on how various sessions will be conducted.

How to Participate

Stakeholders who are interested in serving on the program can contact Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director of international policy and strategy, at [email protected] by February 17, 2023. Participants are asked to include information on relevant qualifications to be engaged in the role for which they volunteer.

Stakeholders are also encouraged to share this request with others beyond the IPAG membership who may be eligible to serve on the program.

For individuals interested in attending/participating in this event, but not in serving as a moderator, speaker, or panelist, find more information on the U.S.-German Standards Panel on the event webpage, and access the event flyer. Registration will open shortly.
