ANSI-affiliate Workcred is providing updates on its recent webinars, broadcasts, publications, and collaborations to improve the effectiveness of industry certification and certificate/degree (C+D) pathways.
With its partners, Workcred is set to launch the first group of C+D pathways this year to help provide low-income, first-generation, and adult learners with credentials that signal both their strong learning foundation (degree) and their job-ready skills (certification). The goal is to co-develop and offer community colleges an affordable, scalable approach to align degrees with industry needs through C+D pathways.
The team at Workcred has also just concluded work on a research project that examines the return on investment of credentials in the manufacturing industry, funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership. The findings, to be released in 2023, will provide manufacturers with a better understanding of how credentials can serve as an important resource in identifying skilled workers, as well as ways credentialing can be strengthened in manufacturing.
