People on the Move

3/18/2022

People on the Move highlights the career advancements of high-level trailblazers working professionally in diverse areas of standardization, contributing every day to the strength and success of the U.S. standards and conformance community.

The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) announced that Brian Wolff, its executive vice president of public policy and external affairs, has also been named EEI’s chief strategy officer. He directs the organization’s communications and member engagement, customer solutions, government relations, and political and external affairs teams, and is the executive vice president of the Edison Foundation.

Wolff is an experienced executive who has demonstrated leadership, political acumen, and a creative and focused approach during his time at EEI. In 2021, he was named one of The Hill’s top lobbyists, and the Washingtonian included him on their list of most influential people. He is a co-chair of the Stanford Professionals in Energy alumni group and sits on the Alumni Board and Chancellor’s Society for the University of Arkansas. Wolff is a Presidential Leadership Scholar, and serves on the boards of the Public Affairs Institute, Capital Area REACH program, and the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Institute.

“By approving this expansion of Brian’s role and his responsibilities, EEI’s Board has recognized the ongoing value that Brian delivers on behalf of EEI’s member companies,” said EEI president Tom Kuhn. “Brian is at the forefront of promoting our industry’s clean energy transformation and recently led a delegation of member company executives in Glasgow during the COP26 climate change meetings. He has helped to strengthen the issue management process and advocacy efforts of EEI through his work to advance our strategic priorities and to meet the growing opportunities and challenges facing our industry and the customers and communities we serve.”

The Society of Laboratory Automation and Screening (SLAS) has appointed Mary Geismann as director, membership and engagement. In this role, she provides direction and management for all SLAS membership and engagement activities, focusing her efforts on outreach and growth.

Geismann joined SLAS in 2011 as senior manager, member services. Prior to that, she was an account manager at Smithbucklin, an association management company, for six years.

“I am very excited to move into the role of SLAS director, membership and engagement and honored to have the opportunity to serve our diverse and dedicated global community from a more strategic role,” says Geismann. “I look forward to engaging with our members through every level of their career. We are at an exciting stage in the growth of our society, and our members and volunteers will be essential to how the organization continues to advance.”
