ASME Webinar on Industrial CT Scanning: A New Standard for Manufacturing Quality

6/06/2025

The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) will host a webinar to explore how engineers can use industrial computed tomography (CT) scanning across industries to detect hidden defects, accelerate development cycles, and strengthen supply chain reliability.

Industrial CT works on the same basic principle as medical CT, taking hundreds of X-ray images from different angles to capture the internal and external structure of objects in three dimensions. It is used across industries to support quality control, failure analysis, research, and other applications.

Presenter Alex Hao, technical product marketing manager at Lumafield, will explore the principles behind industrial CT and demonstrate how CT scanning is expanding what’s possible in product design, quality assurance, and failure analysis. Takeaways will include:

  • what industrial CT scanning is and how it works;
  • how CT scanning transforms design validation, quality control, and failure investigation;
  • real-world examples of industrial CT applications across aerospace, automotive, electronics, consumer goods, and more;
  • how cloud-based analysis and collaboration streamline inspection workflows; and
  • practical strategies for integrating CT scanning into existing engineering processes.
Access more information and register for the webinar to take place on June 12, 2:00 p.m. ET.
