SYTA Article Highlights the State of the Family Travel Industry

1/06/2022

The Student & Youth Travel Association (SYTA) recently published an article on the health of the family travel industry based on results from the Family Travel Association’s 2021 survey.

The article reveals how travel demand has risen after its steep decline in 2020, with 88% of parents likely to travel in 2022. However, the pandemic has changed which travel destinations and attractions are desirable – interest in cruises has decreased from 36% in 2019 to 10% currently, and plans to visit a museum or cultural attraction have decreased from 68% to 36% in the same time period. Affordability remains the top obstacle in family travel, with 79% of respondents naming it as the biggest consideration. COVID-related issues make the list as well, with 41% concerned about limitations on activities and amenities, and 33% concerned about vaccination and health protocols on transportation providers.
