CSA Group has released a new report on the plastics recycling sector: “Defining Recycling in the Context of Plastics.”

The report seeks to offer a clear definition of recycling that will support public policymakers in achieving environmental outcomes, as well as the plastics recycling sector in determining plastics collection, sorting, and supply chain design. CSA also delves into circular economy principles as they relate to plastics recycling, with the objective to use renewable energy to reclaim fossil resources and avoid waste (for fossil-based plastics), and to return nutrients in plastics to biological systems to support regeneration or replace hydrocarbons (for bio-based plastics).
