Elevate your career at the Emerging Standards Professionals Workshop: Leadership and Engagement in International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Activities, to be held conjunction with World Standards Week in Washington, DC.
The multi-day event, hosted by the USNC Young & Emerging Professionals Committee, will prime emerging standards professionals for success in international standardization, in both IEC and ISO activities. Participants will get to network with industry leaders, gain insights into the standards development and conformity assessment processes, and attend valuable trainings to advance their careers and the work of their organizations.
- Day 1 on November 12 will set the stage for the workshop, providing an introduction to international standardization at ISO and the IEC. Participants will learn from the United States’ foremost leaders on how to become engaged in these activities as well as the value of participation for individuals and their employer through an information session, career panel, and networking event.
- Day 2 on November 13: Participants will take part in “Standard in a Day Bootcamp” training, gaining hands-on experience in how international stakeholders reach a consensus, draft, and finally create an international standard. The workshop will also explore efforts to support greater sustainability worldwide through attendance at WSW’s “Conference on Standards and Sustainability.”
- Day 3 on November 14 will allow attendees to explore the flip side of international standardization through a conformity assessment overview and training. Participants will hear from industry experts on topics such as: AI, the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals, gender equity, and much more. The event will conclude with complimentary admission to attend the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day networking reception and exhibits.
