In celebration of standards and their significant impact on our interconnected world, SES – The Society for Standards Professionals and the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee are announcing a paper competition for individuals in the U.S. standards community. The winner will be awarded at the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day, to be held on October 12, 2023, in Washington, DC.
Authors may write about the 2023 World Standards Day theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World,” or another topic of their choosing related to standards and their use. Additionally, authors may choose to address topics that are domestic (U.S.) or international in scope. The competition is open to any individual in the private sector, government, or academia, including employees of standards developing organizations. Entrants must reside in the U.S. If employed, they must be employed by a U.S.-based organization at a U.S. location. Co-authorship is permitted.
A cash prize of $1,500 and plaque will be awarded by SES and the U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee for the best paper submitted. The winning paper will be published in the SES journal, Standardization: Journal of Research and Innovation. All paper contest submissions must be received by 11:59 p.m. PT on September 1, 2023.
