ANSI Meetings Update: New COVID-19 Protocols for Visitors

8/18/2022

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has updated its ANSI Visitor Protocols and Acknowledgement Form.

Visitors  attending in-person meetings and conferences hosted by ANSI, the ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), and Workcred must complete an acknowledgment form attesting to the fact that either: (i) they are fully vaccinated; or (ii) they agree to obtain and be prepared to show proof of a negative COVID test within three days of the event. This new protocol, taken in consultation with ANSI’s governance leadership, applies only to individuals who have not already provided documentation, under ANSI’s prior acknowledgment form, that they are fully vaccinated.

Per the CDC, fully vaccinated means a person has received their primary series of COVID-19 vaccines. A person is considered fully vaccinated 2 weeks after completion of a two-dose mRNA series (e.g., Moderna, Pfizer) or one dose of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine.

The COVID test must be a viral test (e.g., PCR test) that is conducted or proctored by a third-party administrator, like a CVS, doctor’s office, or a local urgent care facility, that shows where the test was performed, the date the specimen was collected, a test result of “negative,” “undetected” or the like, and contain information sufficient to identify the person who took the test.  Antibody or serology tests and at-home COVID tests are not sufficient.

In-person attendees must also agree to conform to all Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines, local rules, and other COVID-19 protocols adopted by ANSI and made applicable to any event. For example, each visitor must agree to wear a mask when the COVID-19 Community Level in the county where the ANSI Office is located is HIGH or MEDIUM as defined by the CDC. Even where Community Levels are LOW, every visitor is of course free to wear a mask if they choose to do so.

ANSI, Workcred, and ANAB leadership continue to monitor developments relating to COVID-19 closely. Decisions are informed by federal, state, and local guidelines, as well as the CDC recommendations regarding business gatherings.

ANSI will issue additional announcements as circumstances evolve; please visit www.ansi.org/covid-19 for the latest information. Visit CDC's website for the latest COVID-19 information, including prevention and travel precautions.
