Security Industry Association Offers Free Six-Course Series on Securing K-12 School Environments

The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced its upcoming SIAcademy LIVE! Series, to focus on the current state of K-12 school security. The series will cover proactive security measures designed to enhance building and perimeter protection, secure classrooms and interior learning facilities, and enhance situational awareness, among other takeaways.

The six-part series is relevant to district and school administrators/staff, school resource officers/campus law enforcement, security project managers, facility architects/engineers, integrators and installers, security consultants, and nonprofit representatives.

This series will provide resources on the PASS Guidelines and potential grant funding opportunities for school safety and security improvement projects.

Sessions in the course schedule include:

  • “The Current State of K-12 School Security,” September 19, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
  • “Secure the Perimeter, Protect the Interior,” September 21, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
  • “Proactive Security Measures for Active Shooter Scenarios,” September 26, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
  • “Leveraging Video Surveillance to Enhance School Security, September 28, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
  • “School Doors & Locks 101 – Learnings from Uvalde and Previous Attacks,” October 3, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
  • “Planning for School Security Improvement Projects” October 5, 3:00-4:00 p.m. ET
