The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) will observe its 100th Fire Prevention Week on October 9-15, 2022.
Fire Prevention Week, started by NFPA in 1922 and recognized as a national observance by President Calvin Coolidge in 1925, is a public health initiative for children and adults to learn how to stay safe in case of a fire, with the help of education by firefighters and resources provided by NFPA. This year’s theme is “Fire won’t wait. Plan your escape.” NFPA offers free children’s activities, games and apps, lesson plans, safety tip sheets, and videos to support messaging for the week.
See NFPA’s website to learn more and access free Fire Prevention Week resources.
