ANAB Accredits the Institut Africain de I'Aviation Civile to ISO 14065 for Greenhouse Gas Emission Verification

6/17/2020

The ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB), a wholly owned subsidiary of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has accredited the Institut Africain de l'Aviation Civile (INSAFAC) under ISO 14065:2013, Greenhouse gases - Requirements for greenhouse gas validation and verification bodies for use in accreditation or other forms of recognition.

INSAFAC, based in Burkina Faso, is accredited to verify under the International Civil Aviation Association (ICAO) Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation (CORSIA). CORSIA requires that airline operators subject to CORSIA reporting requirements undergo an ISO 14065 accredited verification. More information on INSAFAC's accreditation can be found on the ANAB Accreditation Directory.

"INSAFAC's accreditation marks the culmination of a multi-month effort to demonstrate conformance to a rigorous internationally recognized accreditation process. Accreditation by ANAB provides the highest level of assurance of the competence of INSFAC's verification program," said Lori Gillespie, ANAB vice president of management systems and validation/verification accreditation programs.

"INSAFAC possesses in depth knowledge of the African verification landscape and we look forward to providing accredited verification for the African market as well as pursuing additional sectors in the future," said Amadou Cisse, chief executive officer of INSAFAC.

Launched in 2008, ANAB's accreditation program for greenhouse gas validation/verification bodies oversees the competence and professional conduct of third-parties responsible for verifying the accuracy of emission assertions, and is applicable to a broad spectrum of industries.
