Call for Speakers: Standards Alliance Organizing West Africa Roadshow on Good Regulatory Practices

1/27/2020

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI), through its public-private partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Standards Alliance, is organizing a three-part West Africa roadshow to cover Good Regulatory Practices (GRP) in mid-to-late March 2020. The series of one-day workshops will take place in Accra, Ghana; Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire; and Dakar, Senegal.

The workshops will promote the implementation of Good Regulatory Practices and will be held in coordination with each country's national standards body: Ghana Standards Authority (GSA), Cote d'Ivoire Standards Organization (CODINORM), and The Association for Senegalese Standards (ASN). The Standards Alliance expects the workshop will be attended by approximately 50 participants in each country and will be comprised of members from organizations such as the Ministry of Commerce/Trade and Industry, Ministry of Food and Agriculture, relevant regulators, trade associations, members of the Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) committee, relevant private sector organizations, and local companies.

ANSI is seeking U.S. speakers, agencies, and organizations to participate in the in West Africa workshop series. Sessions will cover topics related to GRP, with speakers sharing their perspectives on best practices for standards and regulatory development to meet the countries' commitments under the World Trade Organization (WTO) TBT agreement, and will promote economic growth and opportunity in West Africa. The content will also aim to identify the most important areas for future trainings and collaboration. The tentative roadshow duration will be approximately 8-12 days.

ANSI will finalize the itinerary and dates in consultation with speakers and the national standards bodies.
