ANSI and UL Standards & Engagement announced the
publication of a white paper, Principles for Measuring the Impact of
Voluntary Consensus Standards on Human Health and Safety, which provides a
methodology on how to measure and articulate the significant impacts that
voluntary consensus standards can have on the health and safety of the public.
Open for your comments: The U.S. Federal Communications
Commission (FCC) has released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to create a
voluntary cybersecurity labeling program for "Internet of Things" (IoT) or
"smart" devices. The proposed program would allow qualifying products
to bear a new U.S Cyber Trust Mark, helping consumers make informed purchasing
decisions, differentiate trustworthy products in the marketplace, and create
incentives for manufacturers to meet higher cybersecurity standards.
The workshop—being held in conjunction with meetings of two International Organization for Standardization (ISO) Technical Committees (TCs): ISO/TC 163, Thermal performance and energy use in the built environment, and ISO/TC 205, Building environment design—will cover changes needed in efforts surrounding the holistic approach to buildings, as well as various issues and actions addressing data needed.
Submit comments by August 18: ANSI seeks comments on
proposals from the British Standards Institution for a new joint technical
committee of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the
International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) on quantum technologies. The
broad and all-encompassing scope of the proposals, if approved, may have
implications and impact on existing work related to quantum technologies in
other ISO and IEC committees.
Submissions are due by September 1 and the winning
prize is $1,500: In celebration of standards and their significant impact on
our interconnected world, SES – The Society for Standards Professionals and the
U.S. Celebration of World Standards Day Planning Committee are holding a paper
competition for individuals in the U.S. standards community.
The newly launched ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB)
website upgrades the user experience for organizations seeking training and/or
accreditation, offering simplified navigation and improved search capability.
